Brief History

Family Running with dog in parkA growing town with incredibly strong and interesting historical ties, Bloomfield, Connecticut, is a fantastic location with job potential in many different industries and plenty to offer in regards to attractions and events for all ages. First settled in 1660 as part of Windsor, the land once supported the Poquonocks before it was acquired by settlers. Then organized as the Parish of Wintonbury in 1736. The name Wintonbury was taken from the names of three neighboring towns, Windsor, Farmington, and Simsbury, before being incorporated as the town of Bloomfield in 1835.

The early economy of Bloomfield was largely agriculturally based on providing dairy products, shade tobacco, and other commodities until it became a densely populated suburb of Hartford, as it remains to this day. The town has changed dramatically while also remaining quite the same, creating a very diverse dynamic within the area. The town’s south and east fringes appear as a more developed, city-like space while the north and west tend to have a more rural appeal, featuring much farmland and scenic spaces. This makes this town great for those who want the best of both worlds, so to speak, as you can easily enjoy both the perks of the city and the relaxation of the country. This makes it a great idea to take a look at Bloomfield, CT real estate if you want such a reliably comfortable yet active space to call your own home.
